Just to let you know ahead of time, there are some affiliate links in this post about some projects I believe in. If you’re not into that sort of thing, you by no means have to click on them.
So something that a lot of you may not know about me… I’m really into productivity and personal development– that sort of thing. (If you know me, it’s pretty obvious. I’m a geek for that shit.) Pretty early on I realized that the business aspect of tattooing was going to be nearly as important to my career as the art and technical side of tattooing. Not even so much for the money-making side of things– It’s an important thing to grasp just to get to the point where you’re getting to do the sort of pieces you want to do.
I’ll spare you my history with all that for now, but I’ve read A LOT of books on framing the right mental attitude, getting shit done, marketing, selling, living right, etc. etc. While my life has not been perfect by any means, I live and work better and more honestly true to myself as a result of this study, and I continue to improve. Over the last two years, I’ve shifted a lot of my reading focus to ebooks. I’m trying to live with less clutter, and ebooks definitely help with that while still giving me plenty to munch on. Also it seems to me that self-published ebooks tend to be more immediate and relevant, as they aren’t filtered through a big publishing house with its own biases and such; the author is able to truly come through.
I’ve been really stoked to jump on the last three only72.com sales. Basically on the site, a couple times a year they sell a group of ebooks/courses for a single greatly reduced price for 72 hours. It’s run by Karol Gajda, from ridiculouslyextraordinary.com who focuses on helping others live freely, and Adam Baker, from manvsdebt.com, who has some awesome ebooks about selling things you don’t need and getting out of debt and reframing how you use your money to align with your values. I’ve interacted with each of these guys a bit. Both super stand-up guys.
The first only72 group was on minimalism, the second on minimalist business, and the third was on personal development. With the first two, I set aside time and read through all the material and applied it to my life. I really trimmed up my life and work practices to get rid of a lot that was taking up time and energy but not really doing much of anything for me or others. With the third, I still haven’t stopped and read all the ebooks, but I did focus on a couple- one that helped me recover the Spanish I learned in school and forgot, (and start building on that, though I still speak like un hombre de cavernas- a caveman) and another that helped to reengineer my sleep cycles and have energy at the start of my day.
Anyways, I’m excited because there’s another only72.com sale coming next week. It seems to be on business- particularly for online and creative businesses. For now, they’re putting out some interviews with some authors to promote it. I watched both last night, and got some insight on self publishing, making podcasts (definitely excited about that) and being transparent in blogging and social media. It’s cool as well, they have them as video, audio, or transcript, and those you can download for free. There’ll be a couple more interviews later this week as well, from what I heard.
If it sounds worthwhile, check it out here.

Also, full disclosure- if you do end up taking part in the sale next week, I get a commission from it. I feel really strongly about the information these guys put out, though, and I’ll definitely be buying the next group.
Oh! Like that photo up top of Alina and me? It’s by my insanely talented sister, Jessica Haskett. Her site is mollipopphotography.com. I get no commission from her, but she’s fantastic. I love you, Jess!
